Happy Sunday, crafty friends! As we have been doing our free Hot Foiling classes at Pinkfresh Studio, we've received requests to see card samples using the reverse foiled pieces that you get after using our Solid Hot Foil Plate with your negative designs. We realized that we show how to do it, but we often don't create a card with them. So, we are definitely going to be more mindful of that! With that being said, I made sure I used a reverse foiled background for me card, and it turned out so beautfully!
One thing that I hope we convey during our lives and free classes is that we are regular crafters, and by no means experts! We have to troubleshoot and overcome issues just the same as everyone else. If/when you watch this live below, you will see that I fumble around at the end with my washi tape cluster placement. We ALL do this, and we offer these lives without over planning a project so that hopefully you will see that it is normal to struggle or fiddle around with your card design. You can catch the reply below:
You are Such a Good Friend card
Card size: A2 - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (inches)
I started by foiling Lush Vines to Hammermill white cardstock in Blush colored foil using my Spellbinders Glimmer hot foil system. I get asked a lot about which hot foil system people should purchase, and I believe you should get the system that works with the diecut machine you own. I technically have both diecut machines (Spellbinders Platinum 6 and Gemini Jr.), but I learned on the Glimmer system...so it is what I feel most comfortable with and plan to stick with. All systems on the market are great, and you should pick the one that works with products you already have. :) Next I foiled the leftover piece of foil with the Solid Hot Foil Plate to get the more bold, reverse Lush Vines image.
I trimmed the reverse foiled background down to 4" x 5 1/4" (inches), then set aside. Next I adhered two panels of the Hydrangea and Rose washi tape (I only showed one live) and adhered them to blocks of white cardstock. I used the 1-piece coordinating die to cut out all the washi tape clusters. TIP: washi tape is slippery! And these 1-piece dies are BIG! You will want to make sure you tape the die down very securely so you don't run the risk of it slipping as it goes through your machine. (Don't ask me how I know this...lol!)
Next I stamped the sentiment from the Hydrangea and Rose stamp set in Detail Black ink to white cardstock. I used a Fancy Label Frame to diecut it, then cut one label size larger from gold pearl paper. I also cut a set of Stitched Scallop Rectangles from white cardstock, and used 1/8" ScorTape to keep them adhered together. With all of the foiling, stamping and diecutting done, I assembled the card as shown, popping many pieces up with foam adhesive. I finished the card by accenting some of the florals with Bubble Gum jewels.
There will also be more images of this card on my Instagram post, as I have an image limit on my website...and I'm trying to stretch it as far as I can before I have to purchase additional storage. Lol! Thanks for heading to my feed to see more, and allowing me to be a tad frugal. You can also check out my complete supply list below to multiple stores, or CLICK HERE to see it a bit easier. :)
