How to make a Magical Summer Shaker card with Altenew featuring the Zero Waste: Beneath the Blue

Hey, crafty friends! If you’re looking for a fun summer project that’s full of color, movement, and ocean‑themed creativity, I’ve got a fun shaker card tutorial up on the Altenew blog & YouTube channel!

I’m sharing how I used the Zero‑Waste: Beneath the Blue Die Set to build a layered underwater scene, complete with ink‑blended sea elements and a sparkling shaker window. It’s such a playful summer card, and a great one to make with kids, too! Head over to the post to for all the details that bring this vibrant ocean card to life.

Easy step-by-step instructions:

Cut & fold 5x7 white card base.
Diecut the Zero Waste: Beneath the Blue die from 5x7 sized Dew Drops and white cardstock panels.
Diecut the rock pieces from Brushed Gold paper.
Ink blend the white pieces as shown.
Adhere a panel of acetate behind the Dew Drops panel, then add foam tape to the outer edges.
Add a glitter and sequins to the front of the card, avoiding the edges.
Mount the entire panel to the card front, securing the foam tape before shaking.
Heat emboss the sentiment in Antique Gold to white cardstock, then diecut with a nested arch die.
Diecut an arch one size larger from glitter cardstock, then glue together.
Adhere a strip of glitter cardstock to the bottom of the card to act as the ocean floor.
Arrange & adhere the diecut pieces and sentiment to the card front to finish.
