SSS Happy and Joyful Blog Hop Day 2 + GIVEAWAY

I will put all of the blog hop details at the end of my post, but how about we get to my cards first? Sympathy cards are not the most fun to create, but they are very important. Today I've created a slimline sympathy card with beautiful watercolor florals.

Sending Condolences slimline card

Card size: Slimline - 4" x 9" (inches)

I started by stamping and heat embossing the floral cluster from Celebrate Rose Corner to Strathmore watercolor paper in Gilded embossing powder. This is a large floral image and I knew I wanted to use it on a slimline card, so I used my Memory MISTI to stamp it. (This image will fit in a standard MISTI, and you can cut it out with the coordinating die. I did not receive the die, so I had to be able to cut my background panel directly from my block of watercolor paper. Once heat set, I watercolored the florals with Spectrum Noir sparkle brush markers in the following colors: Lilac, Teacup and Olive Jade. (These are not available at SSS, but you can use any type of watercolor you have on hand.) These watercolor markers have the sparkle in them, but you can add the Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen over top of your watercolor wash if you want to replicate.

Once the watercolor was dry, I diecut the panel with the largest Slim Stitched Rectangle. I put the panel in my MISTI, then stamped the word condolences to it in Versafine onyx black ink. Next I stamped and heat embossed the word sending in gilded embossing powder to complete the sentiment. I mounted the watercolor panel to a 4x9 peacock teal card base with foam tape, then accented with matte gold pearls to finish.
