Hi crafty friends! I’m excited to share a couple of cards I created with the brand new Whispers in the Canopy from Altenew’s December Craft Your Life: Project Kit release. This kit is full of delicate details and nature‑inspired elements, and I had so much fun bringing them to life in my projects.

From soft florals to a sweet little birdhouse scene, each design shines with a touch of shimmer—because in my craft room, sparkle is always part of the story. These cards are perfect for sending thoughtful notes or heartfelt thanks, and I can’t wait to walk you through the creative process to show just how versatile this kit can be!

Easy Step by Step instructions:

Cut & fold (2) A2 white card bases.
Cover one with a light blue cardstock panel.
Emboss an A2 white panel with the 3D embossing folder.
Heat emboss the silhouette stamp background in sparkle embossing powder to light peach cardstock.
Use some of the layering stencils to ink blend in the 3D embossed panel, then trim slightly smaller than A2.
Mount each panel to a card front with foam tape.
Diecut all the pieces from the Whispers in the Canopy set, then assemble.
Heat emboss the Thank You sentiment in iridescent gold, then diecut.
Stamp the two additional sentiments in black, then trim.
Arrange the elements to each card front as shown.
Mount the sentiments with thin foam strips to finish.

Easy Step by Step instructions:

Cut & fold A2 white card base
Trim pale pink panel slightly smaller, then emboss with the 3D embossing folder.
Mount to the card base with foam adhesive.
Heat emboss the main floral image in gold pearl sparkle to white cardstock.
Ink blend with the coordinating stencils in shades of pink, purple, orange & green.
Diecut the floral element with the coordinating die.
Diecut the word friend three times: once from ivory glitter and twice from white cardstock.
Diecut the shadow layer from vellum, then stack & glue the sentiment together.
Stamp the secondary sentiment in black ink, then trim.
Adhere the flowers as shown, then trim away excess.
Mount the sentiments to the front with thin foam strips.
Accent with iridescent sequins to finish.

Altenew December Release Instagram Hop

✨ Lanterns that shine extra bright! ✨ For today’s December release IG hop, I paired the brand-new Decorative Lantern die set with the previously released Illuminated Scenes suite—and wow, do they make each other glow. The ombre glitter background sets the stage for cozy candlelight, and the sentiment says it all: thanks for bringing light to my life. This bold color palette is a little outside my norm, but I fell in love with it as I was creating!

💡 P.S. this card actually lights up behind each lantern, using the flashlights from Pear Blossom Press. Swipe to the second slide on my IG Hop post for some video magic!

Easy Step by Step instructions:

Cut & fold A2 white card base.
Trim ombre glitter panel slightly smaller.
Emboss & diecut brushed gold & ivory glitter cardstock with the Illuminated Scenes 3D embossing folder & coordinating die.
Mount & glue the second largest frames to the glitter panel.
Diecut the Decorative Lantern pieces twice, then assemble.
Use the lantern candles to mark the glitter background, then create a small opening for the lights to shine through.
Align the lights to the back of the glitter panel, then secure into place.
Mount the entire glitter panel to the card front with foam tape.
Arrange the lanterns to the front as shown.
Stamp & diecut the sentiment in black ink, then mount to the front with thin foam strips.
Accent with Aura AB gems to finish.

The ombre glitter cardstock is from the Recollections brand at Michael's, but you could easily ink blend white glitter cardstock with bold ink colors to get the same effect!

Altenew Watercolor Compact Instagram Hop

🍐✨ Playing with the brand new Watercolor Compacts, a collaboration between Altenew and The Mint Gardner, alongside the Fresh Pears die set made me feel like more of an artist than ever! While I’ve always considered myself creative, I’ve never felt particularly artistic—but pairing these gorgeous watercolors with die‑cut pieces gave me the confidence to lean into that side of crafting.

Sometimes it’s all about finding the right tools that help you see your creativity in a new light. 💛

Easy Step by Step instructions:

Cut & fold A2 white card base.
Trim smooth white mixed media panel slightly smaller.
Mix Still Waters & Mermaid Green from the compacts to create a teal green, then paint on ombre background at an angle.
Stamp the secondary sentiment to the lower right corner in black.
Once dry, mount to the card front with foam adhesive.
Diecut the pieces from the Fresh Pears die set from smooth white mixed media paper.
Diecut the pear & flower accents from ivory glitter cardstock.
Watercolor the pear cuts in a combination of Golden Ochre and Lemon Drops, then lightly splatter with Origin Umber and Raspberry Rose.
Watercolor the floral pieces in Raspberry Rose and Magenta Crimson.
Watercolor the leaves in Mermaid Green & Mossy Oak, then the branch in Origin Umber.
Once dry, assemble the diecut pieces as shown.
Diecut the sentiment layers three times: once from ivory glitter and twice from white cardstock. Stack & glue together.
Adhere the watercolor pear piece to the front with liquid glue.
Attach the sentiment to the front, popping the word appreciate with thin foam strips.
Accent with iridescent pink jewels to finish.
