Who says Christmas can’t come with a side of sass and sparkle? The October “Merry Era” kits from Hero Studio are serving up disco balls, cheeky sentiments, and all the festive fun I didn’t know I needed.

If you’ve been eyeing this release, now’s the moment—subscriptions close tomorrow! Whether you’re a Swiftie, a sparkle lover, or just looking to add a little extra joy to your holiday stash, these kits are a festive dream. Scroll on to see each card up close, and let me know which one makes you want to cue up the holiday playlist and dance your way through December! 💃🎄

Curious how the Hero Studio kits work each month? Here's a quick rundown:

  • If you're already subscribed, you've got until the 3rd of the month to make any changes to your kit selections—after that, you'll be charged and locked in for the month.
  • New to the kits (or just want to add another to your lineup)? You can subscribe from the 1st through the 27th, or until the kits sell out—whichever comes first!
  • And if you’re someone who wants all the things, the Whole Studio subscription includes every monthly kit at 40% off, plus a little freebie as a treat.

It’s an easy, flexible system—and such a fun way to keep fresh creativity arriving at your door. 🚗💌

Card Kit of the Month card set

Let’s kick things off with a little disco sparkle! These two cards were made with the October Card Kit from Hero Studio, and it’s one of my favorites this season. For just $60, you get over $120 worth of crafty goodness—and it’s not just stamps and dies. Each kit typically includes a coordinating standalone die set, a pack of colored cardstock, and something extra fun and useful like embossing powder, embellishments, or tools that make your holiday crafting even more magical.

I love how these designs lean into the playful side of Christmas—disco balls, cheeky sentiments, and bold color make for a merry mix that feels fresh and festive. If you’re thinking about subscribing, now’s the time—the window closes tomorrow, and this kit is too good to miss!

Card size: A2 - 4.25" x 5.5" (inches)

Easy Step by Step instructions:

"In my Merry Era" card

  • Cut & fold A2 card base.
  • Cut A2 panel from light blue cardstock, then cover with one star stencil from Scattered Stars stencil set. (Not included in the kit - from the Hocus Pocus collection.)
  • Apply golden hour solar paste over top of the stencil, then carefully remove.
  • Once set, adhere to the card front.
  • Diecut all the elements from the Have a Ball die set, then assemble as needed.
  • Heat emboss the pine bough stamps to aqua cardstock in iridescecent glitter powder, then diecut.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment in iridescent gold powder, then diecut,
  • Arrange the elements to the front as shown, popping some with foam adhesive.
  • Arrange the gold sparkles as shown to the front.

"Deck the Halls with Disco Balls" card

  • Cut & fold A2 card base.
  • Cut A2 panel from light pink cardstock, then foil the Celebrations press plate to it in opal. (Not included in the kit - from the Yule Fuel collection.)
  • Adhere to the card front.
  • Stamp or heat emboss all the elements from the kit's stamp set, then diecut.
  • Arrange the elements to the front as shown, popping some with foam adhesive.
  • Add leftover Christmas light pieces (leftover from card below) to finish.

Die and Layering Stencil Kits of the Month cards

Next up in this merry lineup: a pair of cards featuring the Layering Stencils and Die Set from the October Hero Studio release. The stencils make it easy to build up bold color and detail, though a bit of masking is needed if you want to separate colors—just like I’ve done here. I love how these designs feel playful and modern, with just the right touch of holiday sparkle!

The second card in this duo showcases the October Die Set, along with the FREE GIFT exclusive to The Whole Studio (the sentiment die)—and it’s a total standout. The Christmas lights come with multiple string options, and the die set includes several bulb dies that cut multiple lights at once. No need to cut each bulb individually (thank goodness!)—Hero has made it quick and efficient to create colorful strands without the fuss. I’m all for anything that saves time and still delivers maximum festive impact!

Card size: A2 - 4.25" x 5.5" (inches)

"Have a Ball this Christmas" card

  • Cut & fold A2 card base.
  • Ink blend stencils 1, 3 & 4 to an A2 white cardstock panel in shades of green, red and pink. (You will need to mask with low tack tape.)
  • Apply glitter paste over top of the stencil 2, then carefully remove.
  • Sprinkle chunky glitter over top of the paste, then let dry.
  • Once set, adhere to the card front.
  • Stamp the holly leaves & berries from the card kit stamp set, then diecut.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment & sparkles in iridescecent gold powder, then diecut.
  • Arrange the elements to the front as shown, popping some with foam adhesive.

"Merry Everything" card

  • Cut & fold A2 white card base, then cover with light aqua panel.
  • Diecut the light strings from gold, and the bulbs in a rainbow gradient from pink to blue.
  • Adhere the light strings to the front, then add the bulbs as best you can in rainbow order.
  • Diecut the scripted sentiment three times: once from ivory glitter, and twice from white cardstock.
  • Diecut the shadow layer from vellum, then stack & glue together.
  • Adhere the sentiment to the front with thin foam strips.
  • Diecut extra sparkles from ivory glitter, then arrange to the front as shown.

Hero Arts Very Merry Inspiration

Now let’s shift into Very Merry mode! These next two cards feature the Merry and Fa La La BetterPress sets from the Hero Arts Very Merry collection. Each set includes a registration guide, which makes it super easy to press the designs in multiple colors—no guesswork, no stress, just crisp, colorful impressions that feel polished and playful.

I love how these sets combine perfectly with the Modern Holiday Sentiments stamp & cut set. Whether you’re going bold with reds and teals or keeping things soft and snowy, the BetterPress system makes it easy to get beautiful results with just a few passes. And let’s be honest—there’s something extra satisfying about seeing those clean impressions come to life!

"Very Merry" BetterPress card

  • Cut & fold (2) A2 white card base, then cover with red & aqua panels.
  • Use the registration guide for each set to press the plates into porcelain cotton paper in pink, red and aqua inks.
  • Trim each pressed panel slightly smaller than A2, then mount to the card fronts.
  • Stamp the sentiments in black, then diecut.
  • Diecut the sparkles & stars from ivory glitter cardstock.
  • Adhere the sentiment to the front with thin foam strips.
  • Add the stars & sparkles, then accent with self-adhesive gems in Aura AB to finish.

Up next in the Very Merry lineup: this snowy little duo featuring the Star stencils and coordinating dies from the collection. These were so fun to put together—the layered starburst design adds instant energy, and the snowflakes bring in that classic winter charm. I used the Modern Holiday Sentiments stamp & cut set again here (can’t stop, won’t stop), and finished off the backgrounds with a splatter of white for a soft, snowy effect.

The coordinating dies make it easy to add dimension without fuss, and the stencils are perfect for building up color in a way that feels both bold and delicate. I love how these cards turned out—festive, modern, and just a little bit magical.

"Very Merry" ink blended cards

  • Cut & fold (2) A2 white card base.
  • Ink blend A2 white card panels with the stencils in reds and aquas.
  • Splatter each panel with opaque white, then let dry.
  • Once dry, adhere to the card fronts.
  • Diecut (2) stars from ivory glitter cardstock and (4) snowflakes from white glitter cardstock.
  • Stamp the sentiments in black, then diecut.
  • Heat emboss the sparkles in iridescent glitter to light aqua cardstock, then diecut.
  • Arrange the diecut pieces to the front, trimming away snowflakes that hang off the aqua edge, and add them to the red.
  • Adhere the sentiment to the front with thin foam strips.
  • Add the sparkles, then accent with self-adhesive gems in Aura AB to finish.
