Light & Airy Ink Blended Shaker Card Featuring Nesting Arches from Altenew

Happy Monday, crafty friends! My first video and blog post as an Altenew design team member went live last week, where I shared this sweet little shaker card. My series at Altenew is called Light & Airy with Lea, which we felt truly captures the way I create. I use a variety of techniques and styles, but reaching for softer tones is something that stays consistent from card to card.

While I’m technically allowed to upload these videos to my own YouTube channel, it feels a little silly to have the same video living in two places. Easy step-by-step instructions:

  • Cut & fold A2 white card base, then cover with blush cardstock.
  • Ink blend the landscape element to white cardstock in the following inks from bottom to top: Mangrove Root, Sea Forest, Burnt Red, Canyon Clay, Raspberry Sunset, Dusty Pink, Snapdragon and Pool.
  • Stamp the first part of the sentiment directly to the ink blended panel in obsidian.
  • Heat emboss the second part of the sentiment in antique gold to white cardstock, then diecut.
  • Diecut the ink blended panel with the third largest nesting arch die, then glue to the card front.
  • Diecut a piece of acetate with the largest arch die.
  • Diecut a frame from moonstone glitter cardstock with both arch dies, then glue together.
  • Add crystal moonlight sequins in 3 sizes to the middle of the card base.
  • Mount the shaker window to the front with foam tape.
  • Adhere the heat embossed sentiment to the front as shown with foam tape to finish.
