Light & Airy Ink Blended Florals Featuring Darling Dahlias Die Set from Altenew

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! I’ve got a new Light & Airy with Lea video and blog post to share today, featuring this beautiful floral card with soft ink blending and embossed texture in the background. I’m chatting about how to balance deeper tones with pastels to keep that signature light & airy feel, and why I love letting ink blending shine on diecut florals instead of reaching for colored cardstock. It’s such a great technique for beginners or anyone crafting in a smaller space — simple, flexible, and so pretty.

Easy step-by-step instructions:

Cut & fold A2 white card base.
Emboss a slightly smaller panel of Industrial Diamond cardstock with the Crisscross Bloom 3D embossing folder, then mount to the card front.
Diecut the petal & leaf layers from white cardstock, and the middles from sparkling peach glitter cardstock.
Ink blend the petals in shades of pink, and the leaves in shades of green.
Assemble the dahlia flowers as shown, then set aside for the glue to dry.
Heat emboss the scripted sentiment in Antique Gold to white cardstock, then diecut.
Heat emboss the label in white to Sandy Blush cardstock, then stamp the secondary sentiment to it in obsidian.
Diecut with the coordinating label die.
Mount the sentiment & label to the center of the card base.
Arrange & adhere the flowers & leaves to opposite corners.
Accent with Rose Gold stellar sequins to finish.
