Cherry Blossoms—or in my climate, the delicate crabapple blooms—hold a special place in my heart. They remind me of my sweet Ellie, who would have turned ten this July had she survived. Her existence was much like these fleeting blossoms—arriving in an instant, small and delicate, and gone just as quickly.
When I first saw the Spring in Kyoto collection by Alex Syberia for Spellbinders, I was immediately drawn to the Cherry Blossoms woven into the designs. Their soft, graceful presence felt like a perfect tribute. I chose the Cherry Blossoms Press Plate & Die Set, paired with the Floral Fans 3D Embossing Folder, to bring them to life. This set reminded me that hot foiling can shine beautifully on its own—it doesn’t always need ink blending or coloring. Sometimes, its elegant shimmer is enough to take center stage.
While the Cherry Blossoms set includes one die-cut sentiment, I wanted a bit of variety for my designs. After exploring my Spellbinders collection, I found that the Vivid Script Sentiments die set features a similar font, allowing me to incorporate the sweet "hugs enclosed" sentiment on the pale pink card.
