Altenew's Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + PRIZES

Happy Wednesday, crafty friends! Creating this card for the Celebrating Parents hop brought me right back to the willow tree that stood at the curve of my grandparents’ farmhouse driveway — the place where my cousins and I played for hours and felt completely at home. 🌿

Using the Willow Branches stencil and die set let me revisit those sweet memories and the lasting impact my grandparents had on my life. I was blessed to have them well into my 40s, and crafting this felt like a little way to celebrate the love they planted within me. 💛

This sentiment came to life with the Creative Labels stamp & die and the Twin Blooms stamp set, and it feels like such a sweet reflection of the love they poured into my life. I’m not sure I ever said these exact words to my grandparents, but I hope with all my heart they always knew I felt this way.

Easy Step by Step instructions:

  • Cut & fold A2 white card base.
  • Trim light blue paper slightly smaller, then mount to the card front with foam tape.
  • Ink blend the Willow Branches stencils to white cardstock in the following ink colors:

Stencil 1: Icy Lemonade
Stencil 2: Oolong Tea
Stencil 3: Aloe Vera
Stencil 4: Matcha Tea
Stencil 5: Oak Moss
Stencil 6: Mocha, Espresso

  • Diecut with the coordinating die, then adhere to the card front.
  • Heat emboss the main sentiment in antique gold to white cardstock.
  • Diecut with two extra layers, then stack & glue together.
  • Stamp the secondary sentiment in obsidian to white cardstock.
  • Trim the secondary sentiment into a thin strip with a banner edge.
  • Diecut the lantern pieces, then ink blend the largest glitter cardstock piece with Sunray ink.
  • Assemble the lantern, referencing the layering guide on the packaging.
  • Arrange and adhere the lantern and sentiments to the front as shown.
  • Accent with crystal moonlight sequins and yellow glitter drops to finish.
