Pinkfresh Studio - Folklore Background

December 20, 2018

Happy Thursday, blog friends! I'm sorry it has been so quiet around here! I had such a wonderful time with my family, and didn't do any prep work for my blog over the weekend, and I don't have a lot of time during the week to do it. So, thank you for bearing with me while my blog went a bit quiet.

Today I have a card to share with you that has a color palette that is a little out of my norm for cards, but not so much for me! My cards are typically pretty colorful, but still very light & airy {most of the time}. But my home is very neutral light grey & white, with just small pops of blue here & there. Ever since losing Ellie & Layton, I've needed my home to be tranquil and calming...and these light & airy neutral colors help me feel this way. Some might consider it boring, and that's okay....they don't have to live here! Lol!

For this card, I wanted to take my love for neutral home decor, and bring it to my card! I am using the gorgeously intricate Folklore background die from Pinkfresh Studio, and the sentiment from the Folk Mandala die set.

To start, I cut the Folklore background four times: once from cashmere cardstock, and three times from white cardstock. This die is VERY intricate, and it only cut out completely when I used my metal shim (I made the mistake of not using it the first time I cut with it). This has nothing to do with the quality of the die nor your diecut machine! This is the purpose of a metal shim, and I highly suggest having one on hand for intricate dies like this. Once I added the metal shim to my sandwich, it cut out perfectly every single time.

Next I diecut the sentiment four times as well: once from gold foiled cardstock and three times from white cardstock. With all the diecutting complete, I stacked and layered each section of cuts together with a Zig glue pen.

With all the diecutting & layering complete, it was time to put the card together. I cut & folded and A2 card base from cashmere cardstock, then layered a block of gold foiled vellum with a polka dot print to the front. This is an older piece of vellum from My Mind's Eye that is no longer available, but you could easily create your own by heat embossing the large polka dots in gold! Next I layered the Folklore background to the front using some mixed media adhesive, then did the same with the Just A Note sentiment. To finish, I added the jewel trimmed pearl to the middle of the card.

That is all I have for you today, friends! I have updated my Crafty Sales page with some of the lastest promos, so be sure to check it out! Before you move along with your day, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) And of course, I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel. My channel has been pretty quiet recently - I am right in the middle of reorganizing my entire craft it is a bit disjointed. I have given myself a deadline of the end of December to get it completely finished, with my new studio area ready for video creation!! So, there will be a TON more videos in 2019. So thank you for bearing with me until then!

You are going to see a new option up there....Facebook. I go back & forth on this a lot, but I was looking through my personal FB page the other day...and it was cards for days. It doesn't leave room for what I want my personal FB to have on it - personal photos & such. So, I have created a FB page for Lea Lawson Creates again. I would love to have you join, and be sure to subscribe to notifications so you don't miss out on anything. I would like to make the page interactive, and a way that we can actually hang if you have any ideas on that, I would appreciate it!
I hope that you have a great Thursday!
