Concord & 9th - Rainbow Birthday

Happy Tuesday, blog friends! I hope the start of your week has been fabulous! I've been super busy behind the scenes at Pinkfresh Studio lately, and we have so much coming up in the near future that you are going to LOVE! But, I've also been trying to maintain some balance, and keep creating with all of my other products as well.

That is where today's card comes in. There is an awesome sketch challenge going on at Where Creativity Meets C9 Blog - check it out!

It prompted me to break out some of my favorite C9 stamps & dies, and create this lovely rainbow themed birthday card for today's post!

To start, I cut & folded an A2 card from black heavyweight cardstock, then set it aside. Next I cut a block of white heavyweight cardstock slightly smaller than the card base.

The next step was stamping the rainbow stripes to the white cardstock block using the Bits & Pieces stamp set. This was done easily by using my MISTI, and just sliding the cardstock block up a quarter of an inch each time I stamped with a new color.

I used Ranger Distress Oxide inks to create the rainbow gradient, and I don't feel like they give great coverage when applied with just the ink pad. So, I always used my blending tool afterwards to get really great coverage on my stamp! Once the stamping was complete, I layered it to the card front using foam adhesive for added dimension.

Next I stamped the Blooms Fill-In background to white heavyweight cardstock in onyx black Versafine ink. I also used my MISTI for this, as I needed to stamp it twice to get a dark & crisp black image. Then I proceeded to stamp in the flower & leave parts with distress oxide inks using the same technique as I mentioned above.

Once this stamping was complete, I proceeded to diecut the floral piece & the small filigree from gold glitter paper using the coordinating Bloom Fill-In dies. I also diecut the word happy using the Bits & Pieces coordinating dies (4) times - once from gold glitter paper & three times from white cardstock. I layered the diecut words together to give it some structure & rigidity.
The next step was popping the floral piece to the front on foam adhesive, then flicking with black paint splatter.  I use a basic set of watercolor cakes & size 4 round watercolor brush to do this, and it always works out perfectly for me! There are many ways to add splatter to your card front, so choose whichever method you prefer. If paint splatters aren't your think, just leave them off & the card will still look great!
Finally, I added the diecut word happy to the front with foam adhesive. Then I stamped & heat embossed the rest of the sentiment to a thin strip of black cardstock, and adhered it to the diecut word. I finished by accenting with my signature jewels tucked here & there!

That is my card for the day....I hope that you love it! Please let me know what you think & leave any questions in the comments below, and I will for sure answer them!

Before you get out of here, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :)

Have a great rest of your Tuesday!
